Okay so before you proceed with reading whatever you think I may have to say that’s positive, I will confess, I think I may have complained everyday since 2020 started 🙄...

COVID has not been the only hurdle that has made my year hectic, I’ll just say that!

But as I reflected on Thanksgiving Day on everything unfortunate and challenging that I’ve had to face this year, I also had to acknowledge everything great that has happened in my personal life since 2020 began. I won’t go into these things in this blog, but let’s just say, I am ashamed that I have been such a complainer this year. 😒

I thought back to this same exact month, 2 years ago (2018)...I was in a season where I had to make major decisions regarding my health (discussed in my “Nia means Purpose” blog).

I was living day to day not knowing if I would be spending that evening in my home or in the hospital because I had already been in the hospital and admitted 7 times that year. The first half of 2019 was very similar regarding my health hurdles.

I have some nerve to sit up here in 2020, complaining. I have not been to the hospital one time this year, except for when I gave birth in February (insert happy dance)!💃🏽

I think many of us may need to check our attitude towards 2020 and adjust ourselves accordingly... 🤷🏽‍♀️

This year has been terrible for many that may have experienced the loss of a close loved one or even loss of employment, a home, etc. However, if this is not your narrative and you are not reading this from a hospital bed or locked inside a mental hospital, I think we may need to adjust our mindset!

I learned back in 2018/2019 valuable lessons in empathy and perspective. I was delivered from a lot of things that year mentally, spiritually and physically. Sometimes an uncomfortable situation will lead us to being delivered from things that may be weighing us down. Read that last sentence again.👈🏽

Perspective is everything. So if your attitude towards life in this moment is anything other than gratitude, I challenge you to change your perspective. Not that what you might be facing isn’t a big deal...I’m sure it’s uncomfortable, draining and can make one grow weary...😔

However, let us allow our situation to help build our character and tolerance towards adversity.💪

It‘s such a cliche’ but true that, “things could be worse.” Many are living in that “worse” now! Keep waking up each morning reflecting on what is going well instead of what is going wrong.

I think it’s fair to conclude that 2020 has taught all of us so many lessons in gratitude. Keep looking forward in anticipation for whatever you are praying or dreaming about, but let’s dare not go into 2021 without reflecting on what we learned in this unprecedented year.

Leave a comment or send me a message sharing why you are grateful for 2020! ❤️ I’d love to know...

You are absolutely right. God gave me that revelation. He had to shut me down to hear Him. He brought a lot of things into perspective. Having COVID-19 showed me just how valuable to other people. Bid showed me Him through the love and caring of my husband I learned how to allow other people to take care of me instead of me taking care of everything all the time. God showed me that I am truly royalty and His royal priesthood. He took care of some frustrations I had at work and showed my daughter how to take care of her affairs without me. I am eternally grateful for the closeness 2020 has given to me and my…
