20 reminders to take from 2020 into the New Year...

I don’t know about you, but I felt this year was the longest and shortest I’ve ever seen. I wanted to take a moment before it ended to write some of the most highlighted lessons I can takeaway from this year and apply into the New Year. I hope you can also take the time to reflect and gather some of your own takeaways from this year to apply into this next year....
Life is unpredictable. Adjust your mindset to expect the unexpected and enjoy small moments.
Save any excess of resources. You don’t have to spend everything right away. I can write a book about this but I’ll digress.
Where there is a WILL there is A WAY! Almost every corporation has shifted its workflow and found new ways to keep things going because of COVID. It’s okay to do the same for your life. Something not quite working out for you anymore, make a CHANGE!
Always plan for tomorrow and rainy days, however, some things cannot be prepared for. This is when you need FAITH!
Work-life balance is essential. This year we got to slow down and spend more time in our homes and with those we live with. Do not forget how rewarding this was once things return to our new normal.
Slowing down allows us to refocus and reset. This should be a normal part of self-care.
Keep washing your hands regularly and if you’re out in public and you don’t need to touch something, don’t! Remember when we touched grocery carts without caring if they were clean and touched other public surfaces and then touched our faces without a second thought? Yeah, let’s not do that again. I’ve always been a germaphobe but now that a lot more people are, the world is a better place!
Teachers need higher pay. Anyone with kids came to this realization early on in 2020 when schools and daycares closed. Let’s support our teachers and childcare workers in anyway possible! They do a job with many kids that we don’t care to do with just our own.
All storms have an expiration date. Even when we can’t see the end of a bad situation, remember that things will get better if they can.
Treat people kind. While we may never all be able to share the same obstacles as we did in 2020, we are all going through something at any given time.
Do not rely on others including your job for survival. We shouldn’t put that much faith in Man.
The value of human interaction should never be taken for granted again.
The world can run out of toilet paper at any moment. Have at least 1 months worth stockpiled in your home.
Regardless of what our own plans are God’s plans can override them.
Always be ready for an opportunity to create an impact in your own community. There is a lot more work to be done than we realized before things slowed down.
Life is short. Keep checking on your loved ones and don’t take their or your own time on this Earth for granted.
The people that are essential to keeping our communities afloat deserve more recognition. We need to say “thank you” more often.
Water your gifts, you never know where they may lead you. I have seen so many people start new hobbies or businesses this year. Some have created income for themselves to sustain their life. The slower speed of this year is what they give credit to for allowing them the opportunity to think and make time for things they truly enjoy. Even if the world doesn’t slow down, you can slow your world down to make time for your gifts to shine. You never know where it might lead you.
Getting up and going about our daily lives does us more good physically than we ever realized. This is for anyone that is like me and has gained the quarantine 15.
Take time to learn from each season in life. 2020 is only a wasted year if nothing was learned from it.
Thank you for taking time to read and reflect on the things I learned in this unprecedented year to be reminders in our New Year. Leave me a comment to let me know which one you could relate to the most.

I pray that 2021 brings you much joy, success and wins than you have ever seen. Happy New Year from my family to yours!

You give awesome advice and I love the picture, please send it to me. We all have a lot to reflect upon from this year and it has all worked out for our GOOD! Love you daughter.
